While humans were treated to a mouthwatering buffet by Cibo and Cibo di M of Margarita Fores, the pet buffet laid out by Bow & Wow and the pet desserts by Swell Sweets assured the canine guests that they would certainly have their fill of yummy delights as well.
Margarita said as a pet lover she would do anything to make sure that she could help in increasing the awareness of the needs of pets.
“This is why I said yes as soon as I was asked to help out,” quipped Margarita. “PAWS told me the next event will be for cats.
It was a magical evening for dogs and humans alike as celebrities joined the throng of guardians with pampered pooches to show their support for PAWS.
Zsa-Zsa Padilla came with Bichon Frise Gael. “It is my first time to attend a PAWS event,” said Zsa Zsa. “It’s fun. And I am glad that Gael likes the food.”
The pet-loving celebrities also included Gretchen Fullido who brought along her Yorkie Doogie, Cristalle Henares came with Mochi and Maki, designer Louis Claparols with Yohji, Lander Vera-Perez with Shih Tzus Porky and Fluffy, and Alyanna Martinez with Toy Poodle Coco.
Carla Abellana, who came minus a pet, is a young actress who is at ease with the dog-loving crowd, having been a PAWS volunteer long before she joined show business.
All the guests received goody bags plus special doggie bow ties and pearl necklaces from Bow & Wow.
Hermes, the Chihuahua of Anna Treichler, was told that he had to meet Prada, the Pomeranian from across the room.
Bow & Wow marketing manager’s Pam Suarez was so pleased that her own baby, Hitler, looked dapper in his white tuxedo.
Sheba, owned by PAWS director Elsie Araneta, held the Aspin (Asong Pinoy) banner high and proud at the plush event with her impeccable good manners.
Coco the Sharpei of Bambi Cueva romped away with the “Bow & Wow Baby Girl of the Night” title with her leopard top and ruffled black tutu ensemble. Puppy, the Poodle of Joyce Ignacio was chosen as the “Bow and Wow Baby Boy of the Night” while Hugo the Shih Tzu and mommy, Portia Cabanez, were voted “Most Stylish Pet and Pet Parent.”
But it wasn’t all pomp and glitter for the Black Collar Ball as the audience came to personally know the stories of some of the animals from the PAWS Shelter.
Barbara (a dog who was shot), Lauren (found crawling in the streets and was about to be euthanized), Olga (a dog rescued with a makeshift plastic harness that had cut deep into her flesh) and Patch (a chained dog left for dead in a hole) all received thunderous cheers when they made their way onstage.
Through PAWS’ rehabilitation efforts, all four were transformed into healthy and well-behaved pets ready to be adopted by good loving families.
“Bow &Wow supports PAWS’ anti-cruelty campaigns and spay-neuter, rehabilitation, and rehoming projects. We hope to continue to raise funds to support the organization with the help of our customers,” says Romy Sia, managing director of Healthy Options Group of Companies.
The Bow & Wow Black Collar Ball benefit dinner for PAWS was made possible through the support of the Ayala Malls, Greenbelt, Wine Story, Cibo, Cibo di M, Fiori di M, Swell Sweets, DogTV, and the Philippine STAR Pet Life Section.
