In cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Barangay Fort Boni, with the help of our friends in Beterinaryo sa Fort (BSF), The PAWS Humane Education and Veterinary Team held a Responsible Pet Ownership Seminar, Animal Welfare Talk And Rabies Awareness Drive on March 17, 2012 (Saturday).

Over 300 pets were vaccinated against Rabies.Thank you to the Barangay Fort Boni LGU and Beterinaryo sa Fort.

PAWS continues to work with Local Government Units in providing Humane Education and Responsible Pet Ownership Seminars to communities.

Taguig, being a new city, was very eager to avail of the seminars that PAWS has to offer – including Humane Dog Catching for Animal Control Officers, Humane Education, Responsible Pet Ownership, and Rabies Awareness Campaign. Through the Offices of Mayor Lani Cayetano and Bgy. Capt. Lino Cayetano, and with our friends from Beterinaryo sa Fort and other volunteers, PAWS was able to reach out to residents of Baranggay Fort Bonifacio.

Many residents of Baranggay Fort Bonifacio came with their pets – dogs and cats – to have the volunteer veterinarians give their pets a general health check-up and anti-rabies vaccination. Overall, the pet owners showed how much they cared for the pets and how they wanted their pets to have general veterinary care.

There were three cats that were brought by their owners who patiently waited their turn to be looked at by the volunteer vets. The children were the perfect audience listening to PAWS’ Animal Welfare Awareness talk and answering questions and winning cupcakes as prizes.

We hope that this becomes a great start for Baranggay Fort Bonifacio to have a City Veterinary Office and be able to provide for the animals and pet owners in their city. We hope that many other cities continue to hold public service events for the benefit of pets and their owners.
