PAWS, as well as friends from Earth Island Institute and CARA held the candle-lighting ceremony and vigil for Wen Wen, the latest dolphin to die out of the 25 exported by Ocean Adventure to Sentosa, Singapore.

Volunteers and supporters of the movement to end dolphin trading gathered at the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center on December 2, 2012, Sunday, from 6 pm to 8 pm to light candles for Wen Wen and declare persistence in fighting for the remaining live dolphins, now at Resorts World Sentosa.

It was also a form of peaceful protest against the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Resorts World Sentosa’s disrespect of the Philippine justice system.

Together, we can send a strong message to our government officials and to Resorts World: DA, BFAR should not be granting permits for the import and export of wild-caught dolphins as this is a violation of the Wildlife Protection Act.

RWS should let the rest of the wild-caught dolphins go – see the “Save the World’s Saddest Dolphins” campaign (www.saddestdolphins.com).
