Most people who refuse to have their pets spayed or neutered encounter "problems" every three months or so--puppies and kittens. The lucky ones are adopted out to good homes, some are sold off with the slight assurance of being taken cared of, and then, there were the likes of Ellie, thrown off by her owners shortly after being born.
Ellie and her sister Leila went into foster care, bottlefeed and nourished by human parents. And although she has no memory of any trauma or abuse, growing up in an environment where there is no one to really call her own family is disheartening.
