On October 26, 2013, more than 400 kids and over 100 pets dressed up in fun halloween costumes participated in the “10th Annual Scaredy Cats & Dogs” mounted by The Philippine Animal Welfare Society in cooperation with Eastwood City and Alpo Little Friends.
Tina Comia said 'all our preparation was worth it' when they were greeted with loud cheers as they went up onstage with Fatchoi and Fatchai - their two chow-chows dressed as "Dorothy" and "The Cowardly Lion". Tina came as the“Scarecrow” with a fourth member of her human-animal team dressed as the "Tin Man". This is Fatchoi and Fatchai's third straight win at the much-awaited annual Halloween pet costume competition which was held at the Eastwood Open Park this year.

The Sassa Six-Legged Walkathon has grown from being just a gathering of dog-walkers promoting a healthy lifestyle for humans and their pets.
659 humans and over 400 dogs walked 2 kilometers around SM Mall of Asia on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 to protest animal cruelty and celebrate the signing of the amended Animal Welfare Act (RA 10631), which increases penalties for animal offenders from a maximum of P5000 and/or two (2) years imprisonment under the old law, to P250,000 and three (3) years imprisonment.
“In this year's celebration of World Animal Day, we want to bring to the public’s attention the plight of animals who suffer from abuse and maltreatment, and we encouraged dog-walkers to speak up for them by participating in this event,” said Anna Cabrera, Executive Director of The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a non-profit, volunteer-based group dedicated to the prevention of animal cruelty.

The PAWS ASPIN CLUB, together with Sassa Activewear and SM Mall of Asia, is inviting everyone to the 2nd Annual "Six-Legged Walkathon : Moving Forward for Animal Welfare" on October 15, 2013. Registration starts at 5:30 AM. Walkathon kicks off at 6:30 AM.

Sarah Jane Lee and JJ, the Golden Retriever, are balikbayans from Montreal, Canada who were among the 2,000 pets and owners who attended the PAWS Mass and Pet Blessing. "We are so overwhelmed that there is an event such as this here and that we got to meet so many other animal lovers," Lee said.
The sunglasses-wearing canine, JJ, won the "Life of the Party" award chosen by Megaworld Lifestyle Mall during the mini-program before the Holy Mass. Lee mentioned that they are going to apply JJ as therapy dog under PAWS' Doctor Dog program within the month.
As part of its World Animal Day celebration, the PAWS Spay Neuter and Humane Education Team headed to Pingkian 1, Quezon City to provide free Spay and Neuter to pre-registered indigent pet owners and free Responsible Pet Ownership and Animal Welfare seminars.
A total of 15 dogs and 18 cats were sterilized, and residents were taught how to better the lives of their beloved pets.
This was made possible through the coordination of concerned citizens who sponsored the drugs needed for the surgeries for this particular community.
