Booths at the Music Hall showcased different organizations involved in protecting different types of animals. Earth Island Institute showcased their work for marine mammals and even had their mascot- Del the Dolphin - together with EII Director Trixie Concepcion tell the audience about how watching dolphin shows actually harms dolphins.
Kids had fun completing the coloring sheets provided by Wild Bird Club of the Philippines and the activity sheets of Nido Discovery Club.
BetterDog Canine Behavior Center's Jojo Isorena gave a brief talk about the advantages of teaching one's dog some tricks. Chardy Ang and his dogs Skye and Yuri provided an entertaining demonstration of the eye-popping things that trained dogs can do. PAWS Director and the country's first certified CLASS (Canine Life And Social Skills) program evaluator, Elsie Araneta gave a brief talk on the basics of good canine manners with a demonstration from celebrity Bianca Araneta and her dog, Perry.
But it was BetterDog's Kinetic K9 Club who made the crowd roar with surprise by debuting a new kind of dog agility - with the use of 'human obstacles' (literally, humans forming an A-frame, a tunnel, weave poles and other hurdles) and lively music. Lisa Kulp and her 13-year old Shetland Sheepdog, Lady, who was dressed to the nines in silver trimming - were crowd favorites, including the two aspins in the team - Sheba and Poypoy.
Three kids were awarded top prizes for the WAD Art Contest by PAWS celebrity volunteer Carla Abellana herself: Cariz Dungca for 3rd place, Michaela Anson for 2nd place and Alexandra Sophia Namuco bagging the top award for her artwork entitled "Love Animals and They Will Love You Back". Renowned artists Robert Alejandro and Wilford Almoro (who is also PAWS' shelter veterinarian) were judges for the competition.
SM Kids Fashion's "JusTEES for PAWS" - a line of shirts showcasing kids' love for dogs and cats, and benefiting the PAWS animal shelter - was launched with a fashion show.
Vina Morales opened the WAD Concert - "Voices for the Voiceless" with a heart-stopping song and dance number with xxxxx dance group. Long-time PAWS supporters Aliya Parcs, Jay Durias and South Border also performed during the concert. Popular radio trio - Chico, Delamar and Gino - hosted the concert while Regine Tolentino, Patricia Bermudez-Hizon and Crystal emceed the afternoon show.
PAWS' Executive Director Anna Cabrera thanked all celebrities and attendees and made a presentation on the furry beneficiaries of the WAD event. "Truly, our shelter animals are grateful for all the support!"
