5 February 2018 PAWS UP for improvement of Los Banos Dog Pound
PAWS and Los Banos Advocates of Animal Welfare with Mayor Caesar Perez
PAWS and LOS BAÑOS ADVOCATES OF ANIMAL WELFARE would like to thank Los Baños Mayor Caesar Perez for taking time to meet today and discuss how the Los Baños Dog Pound can be improved. The Mayor assured us that full support will be given to projects that will prevent strays from ending up in the pound in the first place - through education and spay-neuter programs.
Baby Girl is one of the adopted dogs of Los Banos City Pound. The Mayor and the Municipal Agriculture Office of Los Baños have thrown their full support behind efforts of rehoming the remaining 30 dogs of the Pound.
We also extend our thanks to Municipal Agriculturist OIC, Cheryll Gonzales, for putting out a call for the dogs to be adopted. “We asked the help of NGOs precisely to help rehome the dogs because the last thing this office wants to do is euthanize animals. It must really be a partnership between citizens and the local government.”
Gonzales was also responsible for putting many of the animal welfare initiatives of Los Baños in the pipeline. “We are aiming for at least two Spay-Neuter projects this year-in cooperation with UPLB and the Provincial City Veterinarian.” Paws up to Los Baños! Note: PAWS has offered to spay-neuter all the dogs that have been adopted from the pound recently - and there have been many due to the campaign asking for more people to adopt from the Los Baños pound. We would be happy to spay-neuter all 58 for free when they have all found loving homes. 😊
Please continue spreading the word: Don’t shop, adopt! Spay or neuter your pets and please be responsible pet owners. For inquiries on adopting a Los Banos pound dog, please comtact the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) at 049-5317849. Or ask an LB Los Baños Aaw volunteer for assistance on how to coordinate with the MAO. Thank you.
